Summary of my bike travel

Pune-Shivthar Ghal-Pune

One way Distance: ~150 KM

One way time: 3 hr

Route: Pune-Katraj-NH4-right turn 5KM before Shirwal-Bhor-Warandha-Shivthar Ghal

Road: smooth highway till Shirwal, some patch after Bhor is not good, otherwise good.

Petrol Pump: on highway only

Note:

- don't forget to eat garama garam bhajia in Warandha Ghat

- Shivthar Ghal is holly place don't go there for picnic.

Pune-Solapur-Pune:

One way distance: 250 KM

One way time: 6 hr

Route: Pune-Katraj-Shirwal-Lonand-Phaltan-Pandharpur-Solapur

Other route: NH9 (Pune-Hydrabad) but the trafic is heavy there

Road: OK

Petrol Pune: regular

Note: Don't expect any scenery along the route.

Pune-Mahabaleshwar-Satara:

One way distance: 150KM (Mahabaleshwar), 200 KM (Satara)

One way time: 4 hr

Route: Pune-Katraj-Shirwal-right turn from Kawathe-Wai-Pachgani-Mahabaleshwar-Medha-Satara

Other Route: NH4 (Pune-Bangalore Highway)

Road: Good, 3 Ghat sections (Khambataki on NH4, Pasarani on Wai-Pachgani, Kelghar on Mahabaleshwar-Satara)

Petrol Pump: regular

Note: enjoy paragliding at Pachgani

Pune-Bhimashankar-Junnar-Pune:

Distance covered: 350 KM

Time taken: 15 hr

Route: Pune-Nashik highway NH50-Rajgurunagar(Khed)-left turn-Wada-Bhimashnkar-Ghodgaon-Junnar-Shivneri-Narayangaon-Nashik highway (NH50) - Manchar-Rajgurunagar(Khed)-Chinchwad-Pune

Road: Wada-Bhimashankar road is not good but its worth a visit, also one can wonder around Bhimashankar (forest area) Most of the other roads are bumpy (except NH50)

Petrol Pump: on NH50 and in Junnar

Note: there are other attractions such as Lenyadri, Naneghat (bike doesn't go till end), Kukadeshwar temple at Pur etc (I think they are worth trying than Shivneri)

Pune-Malshej-Karjat-Khopoli-Lonavala-Pune

Distance covered: 370 km

Time taken: 14 hrs

Route: Pune-Nashik highway NH50-Narayangaon-Ale Phata - left turn towards Mumbai- Malshej ghat-Murbad-left turn-Mhasa-Karjat-Khopoli (NH 4) -Lonavala - Pune

Road: Good all the way! NH50 and NH4 are good, Ale Phata-Murbad (Malshej ghat) is exelent, even the internal road (of 60 km) from Murbad to Karjat is in good condition.

Petrol pumps: on NH50 andNH4.

Pune-Ratnagiri:

Time taken: 16 hrs + 18 hrs

Distance: 420 km + 470 km

Route: Pune-Mulashi-Mangaon(NH17)-turn left-veer-turn right-Ambet-Mhapral-Mandangad-Bankot-Velas-Bankot-Mandangad-Khed-turn right-NH17-Hat Khamba-turn right-Ratnagiri

And

Ratnagiri-aare-ware-Ganpatipule-Jaigad-Khandala-Chafe-Rai-Bhatgaon-Shrungar Tali-Guhagar-Chiplun-Koyananagar-Patan-Umbraj (NH4)-Pune

Road: Overall Good

Petrol Pumps: on NH4 and NH17
